The Furry 5K is an essential fund-raising event for the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). The Furry 5K was created to raise money for the SAS’s Help the Animals Fund, which helps provides veterinary care for sick, injured and abused orphaned animals and supports the volunteer and foster care programs at the SAS.

The Furry 5K, to be held in Seattle’s Seward Park in June 12, 2011, encourages participants to run or walk with their dogs. A fun event for the whole family!

The event has been tremendously successful during its 12 year history. Annually an average of 3,000 people, 1,500 dogs and 1 cat participate in the event, grossing more than $125,000 for the Help the Animals Fund. Since the event’s inception, over $700,000 (net) has been raised to help animals in need.
