The SASF board hopes your new year has been progressing well, and we’re excited about what’s ahead for 2018. Happy Year of the Dog! We’re bringing on seven new board members who we’ll introduce in the April issue after they are onboarded and wanted to take time to thank our outgoing board members for their commitment and dedication to supporting the animals. We share a 21 paw salute for transitioning board members Heidi Beck, Julie Pitt, Laura Walker and Shawna Kelley. Each deserves a big bow-WOW and meo-WOW for all their contributions.

To support funding of SAS programming, above and beyond what the City of Seattle provides, the Foundation will grant $82,000 to SAS on Valentine’s Day. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the many animals who are so close to our hearts, and the great work ahead that you, our donors, make possible. Stay tuned for more stories about SASF grants in action.

While it’s still months away, please save the date – October 13th – for the 8th Annual Raining Cats & Dogs Auction. We have an exciting new venue – Sodo Park – as well and will share more in the months ahead. One of the most popular items from the live auction is a coveted spot on the SASF wall calendar, so if you or someone you know still needs a great way to keep up with the Year of the Dog, the 2018 SASF Calendar is available at with free 2-day prime shipping. To celebrate the Year of the Dog, the calendar features 12 canines, plus five cats who were lucky enough to have very generous pet parents at the 2017 auction. Proceeds go to support animal welfare and happiness at SAS.
