Do you love dogs, cats, and critters? Do you also have a passion for visual design and branding? If so, we have a position for you!

The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation is seeking a part-time, Volunteer Sr. Visual Designer to oversee the visual branding and graphics that support our fundraising and marketing efforts. This role has the unique opportunity to own and oversee the day-to-day look and feel of an entire 501(c)3’s fundraising arm. The Sr. Visual Designer will lead report to our 3-person Development committee, and 12-person board led by Board President Whitney Allen. This is an unpaid position and will require 2-3 hours of work weekly.

The ideal candidate has strong “small graphics department” mentality (meaning YOU are doing the work, not subbing it out!) and is passionate about helping Seattle’s animals. This animal lover will be well-versed in utilizing brand standards, creative concepting, visual design, advertising principals, ideation, and design production for both web and print. The ideal candidate will also have an excellent working knowledge of Adobe CC, and are willing to use their own computer and software programs. Attention to detail, self-organization, a can-do attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment are essential elements to this role. The candidate will also work with legacy files, and will be asked to create new visual/creative that reflects a more modern approach to our new and existing projects. Every consumer facing touch point must drive awareness, donor acquisition and support fund raising efforts.

Here are some of the projects you will be helping with:

• Annual Report: We produce a robust annual report every year that outlines where donated funds are allocated, results of campaign and programs supported by our Foundation, as well as financials and interviews of key animal shelter volunteers/staff. Please take a look at the 2016 Annual Report on our website for further reference. seattleanimalshelterfoundation.org.  We would target March 2018 for release of the next annual report.

• GiveBIG Campaign: You will help with visual design (and copywriting support if you also like/want to write, not required) on email campaign, website content, graphics, and social media for a pre-launch campaign and a launch campaign (This traditionally happens each Spring).

• Special events throughout the year: Invitations for donor events, 3rd party fundraisers such as brewery events, movie nights, and/or other types of vendor events. Development campaign emails and ideation on how to build awareness of SASF throughout the year.

• Year End Appeal:  You will help support design of collateral materials for the final fundraising push of the year. This includes a mailer (visual design, copywriting) & envelope and an email campaign (this work would be Oct-Dec, but initial discussions with Development team could be sooner).

Who is Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation
SASF is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals cared for by the Seattle Animal Shelter. SASF reflects the support that the Seattle community and Shelter volunteers have for this essential City agency. Together, we raise funds above and beyond what the City of Seattle can provide to create life-changing programs and initiatives from Seattle’s animals and the people who love them.

A couple of projects we were thrilled to help with include:
•SASF granted funds for the construction and funding of an onsite, immediate care, veterinary exam room. Since opening its doors, the clinic has cared for more than 2000 animals.
•We also raised enough funds for a complete remodel and restoration of the Seattle Animal Shelter, which was an immense comfort to all the animals that come through SAS doors.

•We host the Raining Cats & Dogs Annual Auction Gala ( annual gala ) every year that 250+ people attend. It includes special guests, a kitten tent, a silent and live auctions, and is hosted by Tracy Taylor of King 5 news. Last year we raised $161, 000 in a single night!

•Our Board of Directors is working on a capital improvements fundraiser to get our in-house Veterinarian, Dr. Nick, a full clinic of medical equipment. This year we are concentrating on diagnostic equipment such as an X-Ray machine, ultrasound machine and much more.
