Job Description: Social Media Specialist

Do you love dogs, cats, and critters? Do you also love spending your time in Facebook and Instagram? If so, we have a position for you!

The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation is seeking a part time Social Media Specialist to increase our brand on multiple social channels, and help support Seattle’s pets who are waiting for their forever home. This role has the unique opportunity of owning the day-to-day responsibilities of an entire 501(c)3’s Social Media Program. The Social Media Specialize will sit on the Marketing Committee of the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation and report to Board President, Whitney Allen.

The ideal candidate has strong writing skills and is passionate about connecting with pet lovers in the PNW. This person is immersed in the world of social media and is proficient in using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. both personally and professionally. Attention to detail, organization, and thriving in a fast-paced environment are essential elements in this role.


  • Working with our Marketing Committee to create and post content to SASF’s social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google + and more.
  • Monitor social channels for relevant trending news, ideas, and memes and capitalize on those trends through our social media accounts.

Train co-workers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way

  • Assist with capturing and analyzing social media metrics.
  • Support marketing committee in refining operational processes and procedures.


  • Proven work experience as a Social media coordinator
  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of owning content posted onto Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
